The Ritz-Carlton: Vienna, Austria
Style: City Life, Wellness, Landmarks
About: The Ritz-Carlton Vienna is a palatial hotel located right on the Ring Boulevard, but tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. This newer hotel brought together 4 palaces to create this special space. Each room has its own unique personality, but all of the intricate hand painted high ceilings, hand built wooden walls, and original marble of the palaces were kept in place to highlight the history and culture of Vienna. Count on this place for your next romantic trip to Austria.
Rooms: Each room is spacious, even by American standards. The furnishings are contemporary, while many of the accents show the opulence of this former Habsburg city. The rooms come with views of either Ring Boulevard, the courtyard or the neighboring park, yet the rooms are quiet enough to think you were in the country.
Pool/Gym: The Ritz-Carlton has a beautiful indoor pool featuring underwater music from the composers of Vienna. This experience will immerse you in the local culture and refresh you after a long day touring. The gym is a state-of-the art facility with personal trainers on request and thankfully open 24 hours a day.
Restaurants: The flagship restaurant here is Dstrikt Steakhouse. Featuring farm-to-table meats with other locally sourced ingredients. Rated top steakhouse, and you will see for yourself that all of the locals agree. The fun feature of Dstrikt is that you get to choose your own steak knife from a collection of about 20 knives from around the world.
Their other not so hidden gem is their rooftop terrace bar, Atmosphere. This open space overlooks Vienna’s landscape and cannot be missed during a beautiful summer night. Make reservations, as this place fills up quickly after 5 pm.
Vibe: Elegant and sophisticated
Spa: Their spa is to die for. Featuring spa products from a local woman who literally plants and harvests all of the plants included in her essential oils and lotions. This provides such a unique experience, especially in an urban center.
Kids: This is a great family hotel because of the Ritz Kids program. They also have so many rooming options for 4 or more people, including connecting rooms. You are sure to find the right room for your family’s needs.
Tips: Upgrade to the club level. The food, beverage selection, and service is totally worth it. I especially loved the separate check-in with a champagne welcome.

Getting there: For convenience and expediency, I recommend the 25 minute private transfer to the city center. It is also possible to take a train here within 0.3km of walking distance. I came at the end of a road trip, so I dropped our rental car 2 blocks away and walked over. Easy peasy!
