It was amazing. Even that word falls short. You hit the goal of helping me create a dream trip for the family. One of the best indicators for me was when the family would be sad to leave one location, only to have their faces light-up as we rounded the bend into the next location. We enjoyed the variety of cities, food, weather, people, art, culture, history, and on-and-on.
There are so many memories I could share – getting caught outside in a huge storm in Venice that almost ruined my camera, hearing the cheers echo across the city of Portovenere when Italy’s team scored a goal in soccer, sitting on the Ponte Vechio listening to the street performers and enjoying the gelato, watching the beam of light pierce the dome at the Pantheon, watching the sunsets in Praiano, hiking up and down the stairs of Praiano, the delicious cappuccinos every morning, hearing church bells everywhere, and the food. You know that I said food was not a focus for our family with several picky eaters and all. Well, we definitely expanded our horizons and loved it.
All the people who helped us along the way were top notch – the guides, the transports, the hotel employees, Fabrizio from Perfetto, Fortuna from the villa, and our favorite guide, Valeria in Rome.
